Ahead of the upcoming Indian Railways summer schedule, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has taken a significant step to weed out fake accounts and ensure fair access to train tickets for genuine passengers. The company has deactivated over 3 crore suspicious user IDs and flagged another 6 crore accounts for verification, dealing a major blow to those engaging in fraudulent ticket bookings.
Fighting Ticket Scams
The move comes in response to growing concerns from passengers about the availability of tickets, with many complaining about being unable to book their preferred seats or trains due to alleged booking scams. By cracking down on fake accounts, IRCTC aims to restore faith in its ticket booking system and provide a more level playing field for genuine passengers.

This initiative is part of a larger effort to enhance passenger safety and satisfaction. By leveraging AI and data analytics, IRCTC aims to improve the overall quality of its catering services and provide passengers with a better travel experience.

For passengers, this means reduced chances of falling victim to ticket scams and increased assurance of safe and healthy meals on board. The expanded use of AI surveillance in kitchens also signifies a commitment to transparency and accountability in food preparation and quality control.
