NFL Draft: Exclusive Footage of Cowboys-Eagles Trade Negotiation Revealed in “The Pick Is In” Documentary
The 2026 NFL Draft was filled with excitement and unexpected twists, and a recent documentary, “The Pick Is In,” has given fans a glimpse into the inner workings of the draft process. The documentary, produced by NFL Films and Skydance Sports, premiered on ESPN on Sunday evening and caught the attention of football enthusiasts nationwide.
One of the most intriguing storylines from the draft was the Philadelphia Eagles’ bold move to trade up to the 20th overall pick to select former USC wide receiver Makai Lemon, just before the Pittsburgh Steelers could pick him at No. 21 overall. The drama unfolded when Lemon received a call from Steelers general manager Omar Khan, only to be interrupted by a call from the Eagles, leaving him confused.
A newly released clip from the documentary, shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, shows the Dallas Cowboys’ war room discussing potential trade partners for their 20th overall pick. The team had already traded up to the 11th overall pick to select former Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and co-owner Stephen Jones are seen weighing their options, with head coach Brian Schottenheimer suggesting a call to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.
The clip reveals a rapid negotiation between Jones and Roseman, with Roseman making an initial offer that Jones counters with a proposal of the 20th overall pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick. Roseman agrees, sealing the deal with a simple “OK, we got a deal.” The Cowboys received the Eagles’ Nos. 23, 114, and 137 overall picks in exchange, which they used to select former UCF edge rusher Malachi Lawrence, former Florida cornerback Devin Moore, and former Alabama edge rusher LT Overton.
The exclusive footage provides a unique insight into the high-stakes negotiations that take place during the NFL Draft. Watch the full clip below to experience the excitement and drama of the draft process.
