AI Skills Drive Hiring Spree in Indian GCCs
The GCCs, or Global Capability Centres, of India are experiencing a surge in hiring, with AI skills powering nearly two-thirds of new jobs. This shift away from cost-cutting and towards innovation is driving growth in the technology and BFSI sectors.
Bengaluru Remains Top Hub, Despite Overall Hiring Dip
While white-collar hiring in India saw a 5% month-on-month and 9% year-on-year decline in June, the country’s GCCs are bucking this trend. According to the foundit Insights Tracker (fit), the GCCs are hiring aggressively, with AI skills at the forefront.
Bengaluru remains the top hub for GCC hiring, with the city’s thriving tech ecosystem and large talent pool making it an attractive location for international companies. The city’s GCC hiring is expected to continue growing, driven by demand for AI and data science skills.
What this means
The hiring surge in Indian GCCs, particularly in AI skills, signals a significant shift in the country’s white-collar job market. As companies move away from cost-cutting and towards innovation, the demand for skilled professionals with expertise in AI and data science is increasing. This trend is expected to continue, making AI and data science skills increasingly valuable in the Indian job market.
