Oliver Stark, the actor who brings firefighter Bobby ‘Buck’ Baker to life on the hit show ‘9-1-1,’ has some thoughts on the Season 9 finale. Spoilers ahead, but Stark’s insights offer a fresh perspective on the emotional conclusion.
The Season 9 finale of ‘9-1-1′ was a thrilling, action-packed ride, but it also took a somber turn with two of our favorite characters’ lives on the line. Stark says, “I think it was a really smart way to wrap up the season, but also, it was a really tough way to do it.” He pauses, reflecting on the emotional toll of filming the scene. “The truth is, we knew it was coming, but you can’t really prepare for it.”
A Grueling Shoot for a Heart-Wrenching Scene
Stark reveals that filming the intense scene where Buck and Eddie are fighting for their lives was grueling. “We shot that for hours, and it was just a really, really intense shoot,” Stark says. “We did a lot of takes, and it was hard to keep going, but it made the scene look a lot more real.”
The actor also shares that the show’s writers did an excellent job of keeping the actors in the dark about the finale. “I think they did a great job of keeping us in the dark,” Stark says. “We knew we were going to have a big finale, but we didn’t know the specifics. It was a nice surprise.”
Buck and Eddie’s Road Trip: A Reflection
Stark also opens up about Buck and Eddie’s epic road trip in the Season 9 finale. “I think it was a really great way to show the characters’ growth,” Stark says. “They’ve been through so much together, and it was nice to see them take a break and just enjoy each other’s company.”
When asked about his hopes for Season 10, Stark remains tight-lipped but optimistic. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I think it’s going to be a really interesting season,” Stark says. “There’s a lot of new things happening, and I think the writers are going to do a great job of exploring the characters and their relationships.”
As for Buck’s major decision, Stark says it was a long time coming. “I think it was a decision that Buck had been thinking about for a while,” Stark says. “It was a really tough choice, but it was also kind of inevitable.”
