Jake Paul Responds to Olivia Rodrigo’s SNL Monologue Mention
Former Disney Channel costars Jake Paul and Olivia Rodrigo have made headlines after Rodrigo mentioned Paul in her Saturday Night Live opening monologue. The 23-year-old singer, who starred in Disney’s Bizaardvark alongside Paul, joked about their conversations as teenagers, saying she wanted to create music about girls her age, while Paul wanted to “beat up old guys on Netflix,” referencing his 2024 Netflix boxing match against Mike Tyson.
Paul, 29, responded to the comment on X, writing, “We had the vision … I told you that you would sell stadiums out and then we both did … proud of you fr [for real].” However, a fan pointed out that Rodrigo was laughing at Paul’s expense, not with him. Paul acknowledged this, saying, “I got that she was making a joke at my expense. So what. She’s on SNL and that’s what they are supposed to do.” Despite this, Paul expressed his admiration for Rodrigo’s success.
Rodrigo’s monologue also poked fun at Paul’s acting ability, introducing him as an “acting legend” and drawing laughter from the crowd. The two stars worked together on Bizaardvark from 2016 to 2017, with Rodrigo playing the main character Paige Olvera and Paul starring as Dirk Mann. After leaving the show, Paul focused on building his YouTube channel and eventually became a professional boxer, while Rodrigo launched a successful singer-songwriting career, earning three Grammy Awards.
Rodrigo’s SNL appearance marked a significant milestone in her career, and she reflected on her journey, saying, “A lot has changed for me since my first single ‘Drivers License,’ which was about the biggest event in my life when I was a teenager.” She performed a parody version of the single on the show, showcasing her growth as an artist.
