Elderly Woman Attacked in Miami Beach, Suffers Busted Lip
An 80-year-old woman was left with a busted lip after being attacked by a 25-year-old woman in Miami Beach. Jeanne Korman and her husband Richard were walking through the area when they were approached by the suspect, Thalia Rodriguez, who shouted harsh words at them and then struck Jeanne across the face.
According to the couple, they have no idea what sparked the sudden burst of rage. “Maybe I smiled at her, and she didn’t like it,” said Jeanne. The suspect was later identified and arrested after the couple’s husband pulled her to the ground. Rodriguez was charged with two counts of battery on a person 65 years or older.

Rodriguez’s bond was set at $20,000, and if she posts bond, she will be placed under house arrest between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The Kormans told 7News that they are fortunate it wasn’t someone else who was attacked because they could’ve been much more seriously hurt. “We’re relatively healthy 80, 79-year-old people, but if it had been someone frail, it could’ve been much worse ’cause she hit me hard enough to just nearly knock me over,” said Jeanne.
Rodriguez’s public defender stated that their client is not homeless and has family in the area, despite being listed as homeless in the arrest report.
