New Delhi [India], January 27 (ANI): The Scottish cricket team has officially announced its 15-member squad for the much-anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka starting February 7.

Scotland secured its spot in the T20 World Cup following the International Cricket Council’s decision to replace Bangladesh with the European nation due to security concerns raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Squad Details

Leading the squad is captain Richie Berrington. Scotland has a rich history in T20 cricket and has participated in six out of the nine editions of the tournament, showcasing their strength on the international stage.

Alongside the primary squad, Scotland has announced two travelling reserves and three non-travelling reserves, ensuring that they are well-prepared for uncertain circumstances.

Performance Expectations

Steve Snell, the Head of Performance at Cricket Scotland, expressed confidence in the squad’s capability to tackle the unique challenges presented by the sub-continent conditions. He remarked, “The coaching staff, selectors, and I are all really excited about the well-balanced squad that has been picked, designed to face diverse scenarios in India.”

Highlighting the potential of new talents, Snell praised Zainullah Ihsan and Oli Davidson, stating that both have demonstrated their skills and dedication, meriting their inclusion in the squad.

Group Placement

Scotland will be competing in Group C alongside England, Italy, Nepal, and the West Indies. Their opening match is set for February 7 at Eden Gardens, where they will face off against the West Indies.
