Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead Nigeria’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), taking place from January 19 to 23, 2026. The forum is a prestigious gathering that attracts global political and business leaders.

Shettima flew in from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya. Upon arrival in Davos, the Vice President was welcomed by key officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.

This year marks a significant milestone for Nigeria at the World Economic Forum, as the Federal Government has established a dedicated sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade, named “Nigeria House Davos.” This facility, created through a Public-Private Partnership, will serve as a focal point for ministerial engagements, investment discussions, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.

During his visit, Vice President Shettima is expected to officially commission Nigeria House. Oduwole commented on Nigeria’s ambitions at the launch: “We will be showcasing four playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts in re-engineering the Nigerian economy,” she stated, emphasizing presentations on sectors like solid minerals, climate-sustainable agriculture, and the creative industries.

Additionally, Shettima will outline Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global leaders and participate in key plenary sessions that will address themes such as the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.

The Vice President’s agenda also includes bilateral meetings with heads of state, executives from multinational corporations, and leaders from international development finance institutions, amplifying Nigeria’s visibility on the global stage.

The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting draws thousands of participants, including government leaders, CEOs, civil society leaders, and media representatives. The 2026 edition is poised to focus on pressing global economic challenges, technological advancements, and impactful climate action strategies.
