Actor Anupam Kher recently expressed his astonishment at the immense recall value of the iconic film Khosla Ka Ghosla, following the announcement of its highly anticipated sequel. Speaking to ANI, Kher shared how the overwhelming positive response from fans took him by surprise.
“I did not know the movie had such a huge recall value. As soon as I announced it on my social media, people are celebrating it all over the world,” Kher stated. “This movie broke a special kind of cliche of Indian cinema and became so popular. I’m confident it will receive a warm response and be a lot of fun to watch. The sequel is set to release this year,” he added.
Kher recently celebrated wrapping up production on Khosla Ka Ghosla 2. In a special announcement, he shared a video offering glimpses from the film’s set and depicted his beloved character Khosla. The video included co-stars Ranvir Shorey, Kiran Juneja, and Parvinn Dabass, collectively reprising their roles from the original film.
Notably, Tara Sharma, who played a pivotal role in the first installment, is also part of the sequel’s ensemble cast. Boman Irani is set to return as the charming yet cunning Khurana.
The original Khosla Ka Ghosla, released in 2006 and directed by Dibakar Banerjee, gained cult status for its humor-infused exploration of themes like property scams and familial conflicts. It showcased remarkable performances by an ensemble that included notable talents such as Vinay Pathak, Boman Irani, and Ranvir Shorey, which contributed to its enduring popularity.
Before diving back into filmmaking with the sequel, Anupam Kher directed Tanvi The Great, which featured debutante Shubhangi Dutt and has recently been shortlisted among 201 films eligible for the 98th Academy Awards consideration.
