The idea of Viksit Bharat 2047, or a developed India by 2047, relies on the agricultural sector transforming from mere production to value addition, food processing, and exports. This means Indian farmers will need to focus on higher-value crops and products, rather than just quantity, to drive prosperity and sustainability.
AI and Precision Farming: The Future of Indian Agriculture
The ICAR has been working on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning into its research and development efforts. This includes using satellite imaging and drones to monitor crop health, detect diseases, and optimize irrigation systems. Such precision farming techniques will be crucial in achieving the goal of doubling farmers’ incomes by 2022.

Rural Entrepreneurship and Sustainability

This means creating opportunities for farmers to generate income beyond their primary occupation, by promoting rural entrepreneurship and value-added products like handicrafts, tourism, and bio-based industries.
