Karnataka: RuralShores & Sathya Sai varsity launch AI skilling centre to connect village youth with global tech jobs

RuralShores and Sathya Sai University Unite to Empower Village Youth with AI Skills

Bengaluru Chief Secretary, Shalini Rajneesh, recently inaugurated the Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya Rural Artificial Intelligence Skill and Experience (RAISE) Centre at Sathya Sai Grama, aimed at connecting village youth with global tech jobs.

The initiative brings together RuralShores, a leading employer of rural talent, and Sathya Sai University to equip young people with essential technology skills. This center will provide hands-on training in generative AI, enabling participants to understand its applications and implications in various industries. Additionally, they’ll receive industry exposure through collaborations with top tech companies.

A New Path to Global Tech Opportunities

By leveraging this AI skilling program, village youth will gain the expertise required to compete in the global tech job market. This initiative seeks to address the existing talent gap between urban and rural areas, creating opportunities for those who might not have had access otherwise. The center will also foster a sense of community among participants, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development.

Building a More Inclusive Tech Ecosystem

The RAISE Centre is a step towards creating a more inclusive tech ecosystem. What this means is that the barrier to entry for rural youth will decrease, allowing them to pursue careers in technology. As a result, this can lead to increased diversity in the tech industry, ultimately benefiting businesses and society as a whole.

In the long run, the success of this initiative will depend on how well it adapts to the needs of its participants and the industry. However, with the right guidance and resources, this could be a vital tool in bridging the gap between rural and urban tech talent, paving the way for a more inclusive and diverse tech landscape.
