ONGC Plans India’s First Strategic Gas Reserve Amid West Asia Unrest
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is taking steps to mitigate the impact of global energy disruptions by planning India’s first strategic gas reserve.
The idea is to create a cushion against crises like the ongoing West Asia war, which has already sent shockwaves through global energy markets. The war has disrupted supplies and driven up prices, highlighting the need for countries to secure their own energy resources.
Strategic Gas Reserve: A Safety Net

Once the feasibility survey is complete, detailed planning can begin to develop the reserve. This will involve designing the storage facility, selecting the equipment needed, and determining the logistics of storing and retrieving the gas.
