Bosch’s AI-powered tolling system slashes congestion in Indian capital.
Bosch, in partnership with IDFC FIRST Bank, has successfully implemented a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road, cutting down congestion and travel times for thousands of commuters daily.
The MLFF system uses machine learning algorithms to identify vehicles and charge them electronically, eliminating the need for manual toll booths and lanes. Over 1,000 vehicles per hour are processed, with an accuracy rate of 99.9%.
The technology is a key addition to India’s push for digital public infrastructure, supporting the government’s goal of reducing transportation times and emissions. By promoting efficient traffic flow, the MLFF system contributes to a cleaner environment and improved air quality in the city.
Preliminary data shows that the MLFF system has reduced travel times by up to 30% and congestion by 25% on the Mundka-Bakkarwala stretch. This improvement is expected to boost local economic activity and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
