Hopewell Valley Secures Crucial Win over Trenton in CVC Colonial Division Showdown
In a tightly contested boys basketball game, Hopewell Valley emerged victorious over Trenton, winning 52-49 in a crucial CVC Colonial Division matchup. The win was fueled by Grayson Vlasac’s impressive performance, as he scored a game-high 21 points to lead his team to victory.
The victory improved Hopewell Valley’s overall record to 11-4 and their divisional record to 5-1, creating a tie atop the Colonial Division standings with Trenton, who also holds a 5-1 divisional record. The Tornadoes, however, fell to 11-5 overall.
First Half Struggles
Trenton dominated the second quarter, outscoring Hopewell Valley 13-4 to take a 26-17 halftime lead. The Bulldogs struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, but they were able to regroup and adjust their strategy heading into the third quarter.
Third Quarter Turnaround
The Bulldogs responded with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Tornadoes 20-12 to cut the deficit to just one point heading into the final period. This momentum shift was crucial in Hopewell Valley’s comeback victory.
Fourth Quarter Finish
Hopewell Valley continued its momentum in the fourth quarter, putting up 15 points to Trenton’s 11 to secure the win. Ty Becker added 9 points with two three-pointers, while Christian Heide contributed 8 points for the Bulldogs.
Trenton’s Top Performers
For Trenton, Kaleb Smith led the way with 18 points. JayDon English-Fulton added 16 points, while Jharris Genao Ramos chipped in 8 points in the losing effort. Despite their strong performances, the Tornadoes were unable to overcome Hopewell Valley’s third-quarter surge.
