Dyson Daniels Opens Up About Altercation with Mitchell Robinson in Game 6 Loss
The Atlanta Hawks’ season came to a disappointing end with a 51-point loss to the New York Knicks in Game 6, but it was an altercation between Dyson Daniels and Mitchell Robinson that stole the headlines. The two players got tangled up and exchanged words with 4:39 left in the second quarter, leading to a stoppage in play.
According to Daniels, the incident was sparked by Robinson’s elbowing during free-throw attempts throughout the series. “Over the series, there were a few elbows thrown,” Daniels explained. “And he kind of does his thing on the free throws, where he puts his elbows really high and got me with like two or three of them throughout the series on the free throws. So I gave him one back. He didn’t like it, I didn’t like it. So it kind of just boiled over a little bit.”
Daniels acknowledged that he shouldn’t have retaliated, but felt the need to stand up for himself. “I thought it was just gonna be a tech and move on,” he said. “But probably went for a little too long. So they just threw us out, plus, we were down 50 as well, which probably went into it. It was a silly play. I shouldn’t have done it, but also just trying to stick up for myself as well.”
What’s Next for the Hawks?
Despite the disappointing end to the season, Daniels is already looking ahead to next year. The young guard is focused on improving his game and helping the Hawks bounce back from their first-round exit. With a newfound sense of determination, Daniels is ready to put the altercation with Robinson behind him and work towards a stronger season in 2027.
As the Hawks look to regroup and rebuild, they’ll be counting on players like Daniels to take on leadership roles and drive the team forward. With a long offseason ahead, Daniels will have plenty of time to reflect on the series and come back stronger than ever.
