Chandigarh University Hosts 24-Hour National AI Hackathon ‘AI Nexus 2026’; 70 Teams Develop AI Solutions for Real-World Challenges

Seven dozen teams from across India gathered at Chandigarh University for AI Nexus 2026, a 24-hour AI hackathon that pushed participants to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.

A Marathon of Mental and Digital Endurance

The event saw 70 teams from 11 Indian states compete to come up with AI-powered solutions to pressing issues facing society. These included education, healthcare, and sustainability, reflecting the increasing focus on using technology to drive positive change. The teams had 24 hours to conceptualize, design, and develop their AI-based projects, making it a true test of mental and digital endurance.

From the university’s campus, teams worked tirelessly on their projects, fuelled by pizza, coffee, and a competitive spirit. Judges from various industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance, were on hand to evaluate the projects, providing valuable feedback and insights to the participants.

A Showcase of AI Potential

The hackathon served as a platform for participants to showcase their AI skills and creativity. Projects ranged from an AI-powered chatbot for mental health support to an AI-driven system for predicting crop yields and optimizing farm productivity. Another project developed an AI-assisted system for early detection of cardiovascular disease, highlighting the potential of AI to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Chandigarh University’s Prof. Satnam Singh Chahal, who was instrumental in organizing the event, expressed his excitement about the future of AI in India: “The 70 teams participating in AI Nexus 2026 are a testament to India’s rapidly growing AI ecosystem. We hope that events like these will inspire more students to take up careers in AI research and development.”

What This Means

The success of AI Nexus 2026 reinforces the importance of fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration in the field of AI. By providing a platform for students and industry experts to come together, events like these can help drive the development of practical AI solutions that can address real-world challenges. With the Indian government’s focus on AI development, it will be interesting to see how initiatives like AI Nexus 2026 contribute to the country’s AI growth story.
