The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, a state-of-the-art teaching hospital on a plane, has landed in Arequipa, Peru, armed with the latest medical technology and a team of experienced ophthalmologists.
Training and Education for Local Doctors
This two-week training project is the result of partnerships between Orbis International and global companies Alcon, FedEx, and OMEGA. The project aims to equip local healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to deliver high-quality eye care to people in their communities. The training is specifically designed for general practitioners and ophthalmologists from various hospitals and clinics across Peru.
The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital is a fully equipped eye hospital on board a DC-10 aircraft. It’s equipped with two state-of-the-art operating rooms, a classroom, and a recovery room. The hospital’s presence in Arequipa marks a significant milestone in Orbis International’s efforts to expand access to essential eye care services across the region.
